Just for the fun of it -- I tried to make a list of all the things I consume and use in a given day that are made up of commodities. I gave up when my list went off the page.

Commodities are everywhere! They're used by everyone! Every man, woman, child -- and animal -- on earth practically swim in commodities! Even with my limited knowledge, I knew that these were investments that weren't going to disappear.

But this was only the beginning of my discoveries. I still didn't know how commodities could make me rich. To me, they were still an exotic investment -- but how could I make any money from them?

I Learned The Answer In Elementary School!

So I started doing my homework. And what I discovered blew me away. Let me tell you:

One of the oldest principles in the world is supply and demand. It's so fundamental and so simple, it's even taught in grammar school.

American schoolchildren as young as eight and nine understand this basic principle of economics: the greater the demand for something, the more you can charge for it.

The same is true for commodities, only on a level 1000 times bigger. Here's what I mean:

Let's say you want to bake a cake. One of the ingredients you need is sugar. You go to the store, buy your five-pound bag of sugar at the prevailing price and voila -- you're ready to bake.

Well, General Mills and Nabisco and Drake's -- they need sugar, too, for their baked goods. But they need hundreds of millions of pounds of sugar. Year after year, season after season without fail.

Now, suppose you owned a sugar contract. Each sugar contract controls 112,000 pounds. Unless you have the biggest sweet tooth in the world, there's no way you're going to use all that sugar. So what do you do with it?

You sell it to General Mills or Nabisco or Drake's -- or any of the big food manufacturers who desperately need what you have -- at a higher price than what you paid for it. Remember supply and demand: the greater demand, the higher the price?

Look at it like this:

Let's say sugar is selling for 22 cents a pound. That means that each sugar contract is worth $24,640 (112,000 x .22). Suppose the demand for sugar forces the price up a mere two cents to 24 cents a pound. Now, your contract is worth $26,880 -- a profit of $2,240.

Not bad. But I have a way to leverage that profit 10 or 20 or even 50 times or more. Here's how:

Instead of buying one contract, what if you bought eight contracts? Your profit would then be ($2,240 x 8) or $17,920!

Let me give you another example:

A contract for wheat is worth 5000 bushels. I know one commodities investor who bought wheat when it was selling for $4.03 a bushel. Three weeks later, that same contract was worth $4.58 a bushel. By buying 10 contracts, he made a profit of $27,500 in only 21 days!

But wait! It gets even better!

When you BUY a commodities contract, you control the full dollar amount of the commodity -- but you pay only a fraction of the price! In a lot of cases, all you need is a small deposit of no more than 2%!

Which means, if we use our examples above:

l You can buy a corn contract worth $16,500 for only $330!

l  Or a $20,150 wheat contract for only $402!

l Or a $24,640 sugar contract for only $492!

But the PROFITS that you make when you SELL the contract could be worth thousands and thousands of dollars -- even if the contract goes up only a penny or two!

In fact, that's how a lot of commodities investors make their fortunes!
